Temporary solutions to FIXING the Sagging Headlining in the car WITHOUT using glue!
“the twist pins worked a treat, for the purpose required of the fallen roof lining on my old car, without the expense of getting an upholsterer on the job.”
TWIST PINS
This clear headed, twist pin that screws into your existing headliner without the damaging / vibration effects that thumb tacks and glue will usually create.
It’s a temporary repair that will keep you going until headliner replacement is possible…

We only replace with new fabric & foam because the original fabric may only be sagging in a few places & still neat, but if it not a warranty (previously been recovered) adding glue to the existing factory material won’t work due to the foam backing on the fabric crumbles away making it un-stick & causes the fabric to fall down. To fix the sagging issue professionally, both the foam & fabric needs to be replaced. However If you can’t get your headlining fixed right away, the twist pin product may be just what you’re looking for!!
Below is a video we did explaining in more detail why we never reuse the old fabric/foam, & don’t do partial fixes. Just full Replacement with new foam/fabric and new glue. That may not be affordable for every body, so the twist pin method works well as a temporary solution to holding up the saggy dropping car ceiling on modern cars.

Note: I’d recommend getting it repaired with new fabric/glue. However, here are my suggestions for short-term solutions to hold up a saggy roof liner: #1 Avoid anything that will compromise the safety of yourself and passengers in the car, for example, drawing pins, thumb tacks, pins as these could all run the risk of coming loose and falling down. If landing on infants, pets, babies, and toddlers, we now run the risk of them ingesting these harmful items. So possibly a suggestion to a safer short-term solution is Twist pins. TWIST PINS can secure themselves into the headliner board. Double-sided tape could work in some sections. Also, the use of office staples can do a good job holding the fabric up until a full repair can be done. Note: Usually, wagons/hatchbacks may potentially have rear windshield washer hose running on the headliner, and piercing the board may run the risk of puncture. It’s super rare, but a possibility. Also, most cars have wiring stuck to the board, which can pose another concern if accidentally hit and possibly earthing out the system blowing the fuse. Once again, it’s a rare chance. Or we have also seen adding headliner adhesive to hold up old saggy material that can wreck the board in some cases or cause more work for the professional repair to be accomplished.
