I always recover using new material, and heres why:

The roof fabric may only be sagging in a few places & still neat. This usually starts of in very small sections, but this is also an indicator that the problem will soon spread until the whole ceiling becomes an unsightly baggy nuisance.

If the roof lining previously hasn’t been recovered, Adding glue to the existing factory material wont work, looks messy, it will leave a visible stain due to glue hitting raw fabric.

Over time the foam backing on the fabric crumbles away making it un-stick & causing the fabric to fall down. To fix the sagging issue professionally, the Foam/Fabric needs to be replaced.
