In this video below we cover answers to the most common Headlining Questions:
About Us: We specialise and provide roof lining repairs here in Adelaide Australia SA. With Over 4000 Facebook followers, and Over 10 years experience.
Why do car roof lining / ceiling fall down? The cloth fabric on headliners fall down because of the heat that builds up in a car, especially in the hotter states and parts of the country. With this extreme heat and over time the foam backing on the material crumbles away thus making it un-stick and fall away from the roof lining board. This causes the roof fabric material to fall down, once this has happened the material (Foam and fabric) needs to be replaced. So you can see that its not really a glue issue, but more a foam that has aged.
The new headlining fabrics that are available these days have a stitching on the back to hold the foam in place, we believe this newer material is going to last much longer than the factory fitted material. Lucky they bring out all the colours to suit most modern cars, and we always stock the BEST fabrics, along with it being the closest available colour match to the factory fabric.
Whats involved during the repair? Our professional roof lining repair involves taking off the plastics that needed to come off in order for the roof liner board to be dropped down and removed out of the car. So that will be the lights, handles, sun visors, clips, panels etc that are removed. Once everything has been taken off, the Headliner board is taken out of the car usually via front passenger door, rear drivers door or tail gate if its a wagon. Once removed, the old foam and glue on the board is cleaned off, then new foam backed headliner material is applied using an adhesive designed for roof lining use. Once the glue has become tacky, then the material is applied to the roof lining board, then we mould it to the shape, cut out to size and fitted back into your car.
Time-frame: A roof lining repair takes usually between approximately 2 hours for a sedan depending on the car, make and year model and any extras like sun roofs/DVD players and cargo barriers. However some makes and models we offer an exchange service, where we have one prepared earlier and exchange it over with your old board, this process only takes you 15 to 30 mins wait time.
